A little bit about myself
I have been playing field Hockey since I was seven. Like most young starters, Field Hockey was in my family from the grandparents to parents to siblings. I took to sport as a youngster and have developed a great love for the game over the years. I find that Field Hockey is a great combination of speed, strength, agility, technical skills, strategic play and adrenalin due to the dangerous aspects at times. Now I am not a professional player by any means though I have played in a fair few representative squads and continue to play at a high competitive club level.
Considering my history in Field Hockey, I have had the opportunity to use and try a number of different field hockey sticks. Theses sticks range from the most basic wooden sticks I started off learning with as a junior, to the advanced composites that I now use. Even in my lifetime, field hockey stick technology has changed dramatically.
When choosing a field hockey stick, I have always found that trying out my friends sticks then checking online for the cheapest option of a stick I like a good method. I have most commonly used Gryphon sticks as they tend to be solid in construction and a more even weight distribution throughout. I prefer the total weight of the stick to be light but not too light that I loose hitting power or feel like my stick is going snap when I tackle. Lighter sticks help me with faster dribbling as I generally play an inside forward or wing. As far as bow goes, a 25mm bow is good for flicking and fast stick work.
